Víctor D'Aza: "We all knew we were in an electoral ban."

The president of the Dominican Municipal League (LMD), Víctor D'Aza , acknowledged that political parties have been engaging in proselytizing activities despite being under a period of electoral prohibition.

The official emphasized that this is a legal issue that was known to all political actors, and that it must be acted upon with institutional responsibility .

"All the parties knew that we were under an electoral ban. The Junta also has to assume the responsibility established by law," D'Aza stated when asked about the issue.

He also expressed his support for the warning made by President Luis Abinader to officials in his government who aspire to the presidential candidacy for the Modern Revolutionary Party ( PRM ).

Presidential candidacy

Víctor D'Aza recently presented his proposal as an option for the PRM 's presidential candidacy for the 2028 elections.

The president of the Dominican Municipal League spoke on the topic after participating in the launch of the book "Law 176-07 Annotated with Doctrine and Jurisprudence," authored by Héctor Grullón Moronta , former mayor of Santiago.

This work provides an in-depth analysis of the functioning and legal implications of the municipal system in the Dominican Republic.
